Signs announcing the new speed limits are being installed on council trunk roads in 125 settlements across the Highlands. They are part of a pilot aimed at creating safer roads in residential and built-up areas.
The new speed limits went live on Monday July 31.
Chairperson of The Highland Council's Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans said consultation work on whether to make the limits permanent, as well reviews of the effectiveness of the limits, would now begin.

Data would be collected from more than 250 sites around the Highland Council area, the councillor added.
Installation of the signs, which were manufactured by ANSCO Signs in Muir of Ord, began in late June, with Ross and Cromarty the first to see the new road furniture.
Full details of the programme and the areas implementing the new limits can be found at the Highland Council website.
