It was a day to forget for South Lochaber Thistle (SLT) in Glasgow at the weekend when they lost to the team one point ahead of them in the league.

 

Injuries and suspension resulted in SLT, which are yet to record a win in 2022, travelling with a much-changed line-up.

 

But they began strongly, racing into a two nil lead thanks to goals from Keir Kennedy and Gordy Jamieson.

 

Kennedy’s finish to open the scoring saw the wiry winger take aim from the edge of the box. The Highlanders doubled their advantage when club founder David Forbes puffed his way forward before slipping the ball wide to last week’s two-goal hero Sean Noble. The all-action attacker gathered and slipped the ball to Jamieson whose smartly taken effort doubled the Kinlochleven side's tally.

 

As injuries drained the bench, a second half collapse saw Thistle concede three goals in quick succession.

 

The result leaves Thistle ninth in the league and in the relegation play-off berth. Manager Alan Gray said: 'Today was awful.

 

'Injuries and suspension hit our line-up, but we couldn’t find the right mentality and attitude to see out the game.

 

'We made enough chances to put this game to bed but we never managed it. Although we are in the relegation position, we are only four points behind Glasgow University with six games in hand so it is hardly panic stations yet.

 

'We have a massive game next week at home and I expect to see more accuracy and better attitude consistently from all the players in training and the game next week.'

 

South Lochaber Thistle return to league action this weekend when they host Erskine AFC in Kinlochleven. Kick-off 2pm.
