Arran Milk generously offered patrons free milk for the weekend across all of their retail and vending outlets.
Those with a taste for the less processed, non-homogenised white stuff were able to fill their own containers at Woodside Farm Shop in Brodick, Bay Kitchen and Stores in Whiting Bay, A&C Cameron in Blackwaterfoot, the Old Pier tearoom in Lamlash, Pirnmill Stores and Kilmory Hall.
Arran Milk is a partnership between Arran Dairies, Bellevue Cheese Company and the Murchie family at Tigheanfraoch Farm, Blackwaterfoot. It was formed to help retain dairy farming on Arran and allows Arran Dairies and Bellevue Cheese Company access to milk produced on the island for their manufactured products.
In addition to supplying their own needs, Arran milk is made available to the community through dispensing machines across the island.
Arran Milk prides itself on being a healthier option compared to processed alternatives. It also encourages responsible recycling and advocates reducing plastic waste by allowing people to fill their own bottles.
The milk itself has a loyal following among those who prefer the “old fashioned” creamier, non-homogenised taste - and the thin layer of cream at the top of the bottle.
It has previously run promotions offering milk for free and this has helped to attract many new customers by allowing them to try it for free.
