A fault in the electricity network cut the supply to more than 1,000 homes and businesses this morning around Cairndow.
Among the businesses impacted was the Fyne Ales brewery which closed temporarily, howeve,r power was returned to most properties by early afternoon.
SSEN staff began work on a fault in the local overhead network in Cairndow shortly after 10.30am on Monday April 28.
To allow staff to safely carry out repairs the SSEN control room temporarily turned off the power to customers on that section of the network; this initially affected around 1,100 customers who were told their power might be off until 4pm.
By early afternoon all but three customers had their power restored and it was expected that the remaining properties would have their electricity back on my 5pm.
A spokesperson from SSEN Distribution told the Advertiser: “Earlier today a fault occurred on our overhead network in the Cairndow area, and to allow the repairs to be carried out safely, we needed to temporarily turn the power off while our engineers went about their work.
“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and assure them that on the rare occasions faults occur, our priority is to restore supplies as safely and as quickly as possible.”
