Alba wins Oban's best-dressed shop window

Alba is the winner of Oban's best-dressed shop window competition.

 

Out of lots of entries across the town, the chain of Alba shops that line one side end of Albany Street were declared worthy of first place.

 

In the absence of this year's Oban Winter Festival, the contest was organised for the first time by BID4Oban.

BID's chief executive Andrew Spence and Oban ambassador Kay MacDonald had the difficult task of judging the entries.

 

Button Nose Boutique, recently moved from Stevenson Street to bigger premises in Airds Crescent, came second followed by Orsay gift gallery in Stevenson Street.

 

The Olive Garden restaurant on the Railway Pier also got a special commendation.

 

Mr Spence said all the decorated windows around town had 'done an amazing job of brightening up the end of 2020.'

 

Tills have been ringing out in Oban as shoppers get ready for Christmas. Mr Spence said: 'We are getting good reports that the town's busy with lots of people out shopping and buying locally.

 

'Anyone who wants to buy locally but doesn't quite know what to buy, we'd encourage them to give LoveOban vouchers.'

 

The vouchers are now available to buy on-line and are also  in participating shops.

 

Mr Spence said Alba's windows were consistently the best when it comes to inspiration.

 

Another window with an eye-catching display is Mary's Meals charity shop with a mountain of toilet roll taking pride of place.
