Pupils and teachers at Brodick Primary School once again enjoyed an afternoon of summer sunshine and a huge attendance at their annual summer fair.
Despite rain showers in the morning, temperatures rose steadily throughout the day and by late afternoon the school playground was bathed in a warm sunshine which helped to attract the crowds - along with the alluring smell of burgers and freshly made waffles which filled the air.
On offer for the visitors were the familiar favourites, raffles, brick-a-brac, plant stalls, face painting and a number of fun activities for the children and adults.
By far the most popular for the children, and their parents who were at the ready with their cameras, was the visit by two of Arran's emergency services. Two officers from Police Scotland parked their vehicle inside the school gates and engaged with the children who were also allowed to sit in the police vehicle. Children asked the officers questions to learn about the work that they do while many were intrigued by the inside of the police van.
Representatives of Arran's fire service also visited the school with their vehicle and allowed children to climb inside to have a look. A short demonstration of fire fighting was held and the children were given the opportunity to hold the fire hose and spray water across the parking lot. Being a warm summer evening some of the children ran underneath the water to enjoy a cooling shower.
At the other end of the playground the Arran High School Mountain Bike Club offered free bicycle repairs and the chance for adults and children to test out their Manual Master machine which allows cyclists to develop their balancing and agility skills.
The annual Brodick Primary School summer fair helps to raise funds for educational resources for the school and contributes to the cost of outings. Pupils also benefit from helping at the stalls while also socialising with family, friends and visitors.
