A celebration of fiddling is aiming to recruit new members to a vibrant and long-running community of musicians.
To mark its 20th anniversary, the Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop is opening its doors to those picking up the instrument for the first time as well as experienced players looking to share and develop their talents.
On September 4 the group will host a ‘come and try’ evening session in Strachur Memorial Hall with taster fiddle classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced participants.
The open evening will also include a mixed instrument session with all welcome to come and play together.
The workshop’s chairperson Sharon McDonald describes the event, which will run from 6pm to 9pm, as a great chance for people to meet current members as well as the workshop’s tutor.
Sharon added: “We look forward to welcoming new, current and past members to help us celebrate.”
New recruits will then be welcome to join the organisation’s regular music classes and friendly open sessions on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
The anniversary celebration will have fiddles available for those who don’t yet have their own instrument, and free transport is being laid on for people coming from Dunoon.
Transport and bookings for participants younger than 18 can be arranged by emailing fiddleworkshop8@gmail.com .
