An Ardnamurchan man has been killed while serving on the frontline as a medic with the Ukrainian army, his family has said.
Jordan Maclachlan, 26, volunteered to help Ukraine after Russia’s invasion in February 2022 and joined their army soon afterwards. He is believed to have died on Friday January 3, 2025.
In a statement to the BBC his family said: "Jordan always believed that he was making a difference and we are all so proud of him helping others.
"We are waiting for further information from the Foreign Office as information is very limited.
"Jordan was a fun-loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him."
The family asked for privacy at a difficult time.
A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson told the broadcaster: "We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Ukraine and are in contact with the local authorities."
