The group is challenging townspeople to stand on their own doorstep and take a good look at what they see.
It is hoped the challenge will encourage people to get together as a community to come up with ways of getting hands-on themselves and making the town look more attractive.
'When you stand on your doorstep and take a look around your own patch, the nearby streets or communal areas, what do you see?' asks the challenge that is going up on social media.
Although there are bigger issues that need to be tackled, there are some things that can be dealt with by individuals, families, friends and groups who can make a difference and start the change, says Keep Oban Beautiful (KOB) chairman Maurice Wilkins.
He continued: 'To demonstrate this, KOB is asking the community in Oban to stand on our doorsteps and take a good look around our own patch, nearby streets or communal areas.
'We are then inviting them to share comments or images of their findings, ideas, actions, results or questions on KOB’s Facebook page,' added Mr Wilkins hoping it will get the chat going.

'Through this new Oban Doorstep Challenge we will see many pleasant things
around us - beautiful gardens and trees, well maintained properties, clean street
furniture and signage or wildlife visiting our town but we might also notice things that need attention - weeds along the walls and kerbs, rubbish lying around, graffiti, untidy public gardens, damaged fences and walls or rusty and sticker-covered road signs.
'There will be things that we can improve by ourselves with the help of friends and neighbours and there will be other concerns that we can discuss as a group before contacting the relevant authorities.
'Whether it's cleaning up your street, weeding pavements or helping out paint a neighbour's gate - Together we can make a difference!' Mr Wilkins said.
Comments on the Facebook page should be kept friendly and positive at all times.
If you take up the challenge, you can also send in news and photographs of your actions to The Oban Times at editor@obantimes.co.uk
