August results from Machrihanish Golf Club
Machrihanish Golf Club has announced the results of several competitions that took place last month.
The club’s August Medal competition was held on the Championship Course on August 17.
Results: Gents Division 1: 1 Donald I Laing 76-8=68. Gents Division 2: 1 Graham Anderson 79-13=66. Gents Division 3: 1 A B Glendinning 89-21=68. Ladies Handicap Section: 1 Catherine Reid 77-14=63. Gents 65+ Handicap Section: 1 John Rennie 85-14=71.
The same day, there was also an August Medal strokeplay competition on the Pans Course.
Results: Ladies Section: 1 Linda Wallace 77-14=63.
The August Midweek Stableford and Glencaladh Bowl competitions were held on the Championship Course on August 21.
Results: August Midweek Stableford Gents Handicap Section: 1 Stuart Nice 33 pts. Ladies Handicap Section: 1 Maggie MacArthur 29 pts. Glencaladh Bowl (past and present committee members): 1 Ian MacKinnon 22 pts.
On August 24, the Thunderer Cup competition took place on the Championship Course.
Results: Gents Handicap Section: 1 Donald I Laing 76-7=69 (overall winner), 2 William Clark 86-15=71, 3 Andrew Renton 85-12=73. Gents Scratch Section: 1 D Gilmour 75. 2 Stuart Campbell 77, 3 Stephen Kelly 80. Ladies Handicap Section: 1 Maggie MacArthur 112-36=76. Gents 65+ Handicap Section: 1 Malcolm Cochrane 93-18=75.
Finally, the David Irwin Memorial Open contest was held on the Championship Course on August 25.
Results: 1 I Henderson, A Laycock, G Emery, R Flint: 54.0 (overall winners); 2 A Maciness, D Macinnes, M Smyth, F Walker: 56.0; 3 R Swan, S Watt, G Shepherd, S Whye: 58.0 (BIH). Special prizes: longest drive at the 1st hole: M Rippon; closest to the pin at the 4th hole: F Walker; closest to the pin at the 15th hole: P McLean.
