Last Saturday's event on Westport Beach was organised by Campbeltown woman Amanda Chaisson, creator of the ‘BEACHCOMBERS Kintyre’ Facebook group, where people who love the beach and wildlife, from walkers and swimmers to artists, photographers and archaeologists, can share their passions and showcase their work.

The beach party picnic was held to highlight the outdoor activities on offer in the area and encourage people to give them a go.

There were lots of fun, free activities, with a ‘dook breathing’ session with Breathe like a Beatch, Tai Chi with Jackie Fulton, fire swinging dance with Lori Silvan, a wingSUP display by KAYAK MAJIK, sessions with Pete's Surf School & Hire, Yoga Gatherin' and Ebb and Flow Therapies and a beach clean with WAKE UP, CLEAN UP ARGYLL!

There was lots to keep youngsters entertained too, with a sandcastle competition, a children's beach party book hunt with Kerstin Blomkvist of Wonderland Books and a children's fun run organised by JogScotland Campbeltown.
There was an open mic at the event, with live music throughout the afternoon thanks to local musicians including Charles Martin who was also the event's MC.

The weather was on side, as it was hot and sunny with a cooling breeze, with plenty of people bringing along their swimsuits and taking to the sea for a dip during sessions.
Amanda said: “Thanks to Tesco Campbeltown for donating water, juice, apples, bananas, crisps and sweets which went down a treat with children and adults in the sunshine.
“Thanks also to Charles Martin, our MC for the day, who was happy to volunteer his time, playing great tunes and a live set and running the open mic.”

About 60 people went along and took part in the activities and Amanda said they and the session leaders were “really enthusiastic” about repeating the event next year.
