The ‘National Hotels of the Year Scotland’ 21st Annual awards, hosted alongside ScotHot (Scotland’s leading showcase for food, drink, hospitality and tourism) and the Scottish Tourism Alliance, were opened by Minister for Tourism Richard Lochead MP on the 26th February 2025 at Crowne Plaza, Glasgow. Lochawe and Argyll had a fantastic night with awards going out to friends of the Ben Cruachan Inn.
The George Hotel, Pier House, Ardtorna B&B, Knipoch House Hotel and many more fantastic local venues were honoured at the HOTYS - Scotland’s fully-researched awards, with 22 years’ of real industry professionals at the helm. The honours are founded on observation over the years, informed by mystery visits, BestShotTM visits, interviews, expert advice and guest feedback analysis.
Mike Lindsay, Inn and Operations Manager said: This honour is testament to Head Chef Paul Moran and to our teams both front and back of house and we thank them for their dedication over the past few years, helping transform menus that cater to locals guests and visitors. We are all over the moon! What was once deemed as ‘stuffy’ is now a vibrant award winning, Restaurant and Pub with Rooms that loves to support the community and we thank the community from the bottom of our hearts for their custom and support. Everyone is welcome, be it for our exceptional food, a few pints, community nights, clubs or to give yourself a break and stay over.
A very warm congratulations is in order to all of the businesses honoured from Argyll and to those that work extraordinarily hard every day in this industry to put our little Inn, our attractions, our food, our crafters, our crofters, our farmers and little industries in this beautiful part of Scotland on the map. Argyll can and will continue to thrive, we have so much to offer the world. It’s the traditions of a warm West Coast welcome that brings us all together.”
Chairman and founder of the awards Gary McLean Quin added “Overlooking Loch Awe, Ben Cruachan Inn is a place of great food, fine values and a cosy, modern ambience. It’s an affordable restaurant with rooms - serving up something close to the original concept: wonderful food being the top priority, and offering a comfortable, attractive place to sleep. Flexible accommodation is a plus, as is the informality surrounding the delicious fare, which can be ‘simple done well’ or something creative and unexpected.”
