Adventure Oban and Atlantis Leisure are gearing up to host the Big Bike Weekend from August 16 to 18.
The annual celebration of cycling brings families and bike enthusiasts together for a weekend on wheels.
Friday August 16 sees the Muckmedden pump track come to Atlantis, where riders can test their bike-handling skills.
On Saturday, there will be guided rides for children at Ganavan to show them trails and help increase confidence. An adult’s social ride will be leave Ganavan for the Ben Lora cafe around lunchtime.
Ganavan is also the location of the Big Bike Weekend’s main event on Sunday - time trials for children and adults and a bit of fun.
Don’t have a bike or would like to try one out? The Rusty Cycle Shed or Oban Cycles have bikes available for hire and can offer advice on buying a pair of wheels for yourself.
Cycling has obvious physical health benefits and is an easy form of exercise whether outdoors or in a gym or fitness class.
It is low impact, meaning less demand on your joints, and can have a real positive impact on your carbon footprint if you use it as a means of transport.
It can also improve social wellbeing by joining a club, going out as a group or a ride to see friends.
E-bikes are a great way of helping you get further and tackle some hills.
So why not give Oban’s Big Bike Weekend a go? Head to head to www.adventureoban.org to register and book rides.
