Blue Rose Code returns to Ardgour with new album

The concert is the finale to the highly successful 2023/24 concert series in Ardgour venues, promoted by Watercolour Music, the recording studios and production house based in the village.

Watercolour’s co-director Mary Ann Kennedy said: “I last saw Ross playing live for my BBC ALBA show, Seirm at Celtic Connections, and I knew then that we absolutely had to have him back in the Ardgour Hall.

"I know I say it often, but it’s because I only book music I believe in: this gig is one that will stay with you forever – it’s not to be missed!”

Blue Rose Code has worked with film and recording stars from Eddi Reader and Karine Polwart to Star Wars legend Ewan McGregor and Nashville Gospel royalty The McCrary Sisters.

He has opened for Van Morrison and toured with The Proclaimers and Deacon Blue.

The songs for Bright Circumstance were written in the peaceful solitude of the Lewis village of Galson and
looking out from the Whitstable seafront in Kent.

Fatherhood, a move to England and international touring with a powerful backing, whether duo or big band, has seen him blossom into a compelling live artist ranging from the most intimate moments to raw, explosive energy.

Uncut sums Ross up perfectly as ’Ravishingly beautiful, a blaze of Caledonian Soul, muted jazz and poetic recitation."
