A home Dalriada tournament brought a surge of excitement for Mid Argyll Rugby Club primary children, creating a fantastic atmosphere on Sunday at the Ropework Park in Lochgilphead.
With 12 micros on the field, this was the biggest turnout in this age group (P1-3) this season, playing an enthusiastic six-a-side game.
Everyone worked well in their teams despite a few having only played touch rugby once before.
The Boars’ P4/5 squad showcased true character, joining up with teams who had fewer players on the day to ensure everyone enjoyed the tournament.
The Boars carried on their fine form from last week winning two and losing two games. The focus was on learning from all experiences and working together which they all excelled at.
New and seasoned players alike shone brightly, revelling in the joy of rugby and working as a team.
The results from their four games were: MA 4 – Etive 2; MA 2 – Lochaber 6; MA 4 – Kintyre 6; MA 5 – Oban 2
The Mid Argyll P6/7s continued their winning streak with another clean sweep, displaying incredible skill.
The Mid Argyll RFC coaches could almost take the day off as the youngsters worked together to secure each win, highlighted by Kaiden scoring his first try at the Dalriada tournaments.
Results: MA 6 – Oban Bulls 2; MA 7 – Etive/Lochaber 3; MA 5 – Kintyre 3; MA 8 – Oban Sharks 2.
A spokesperson for the club said: "It was a well-deserved triumph by all. All the hard work the players and coaches put in at training every week is really paying off this season with great team work and lots of tries to show for it.
"A special mention to all the parents, supporters and helpers for making it a thoroughly enjoyable day. The event couldn’t run without you. MARFC team work on and off the pitch. Go boars!"
