Robert MacIntyre has started his 2025 campaign with a top-15 finish in the PGA Tour’s season-opening tournament in Hawaii.
Debuting in the US circuit Signature Event, The Sentry, the Glencruitten man produced a polished performance at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, with his long game particularly impressive over the four days of competition.
The 28-year-old opened with a 70 before adding a 66 in the second round to head into the weekend sitting just outside the top ten on 13-under-par. He then carded a 69 on Saturday before jumping 11 spots with a stunning performance on Sunday.
He birdied the fifth and ninth to be out in 34 before picking up shots at the 11th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 18th on the back nine.
His score of 21 under saw him finish tied for 15th place, pick up 62 FedEx Cup points and cement his position as the world number 14.
The Oban man will have been pleased to start the year in such fine form and ranked sixth in the 59-player line up for strokes gained in terms of approaches to the green. He is staying in Hawaii for this week’s Sony Open before heading to the Middle East to play in a star-studded field at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
He said: “I’m looking forward to getting back to the Emirates Golf Club. It’s a place where I have played well in the past, and it would be great to get the new season off to a strong start there again."
Bob has also been confirmed for his seventh consecutive appearance at the Genesis Scottish Open - and is aiming to become the first Scot to win the event twice.
The defending champion said: "It was special to win the Genesis Scottish Open for the first time last season and I’m really excited to defend my title.
"The home support is always unbelievable. The crowds are playing every shot with you, they live those moments as well, so to win this tournament was truly special. I’ll have memories from that day for a lifetime."
