Brodick Primary and early years pupils showed off their athletic prowess at their annual school sports day which took place at the Ormidale Park in ideal conditions on a warm summer’s day.
The fun event highlighted good-natured competition with pupils cheering on their friends and family members from the sidelines while the parents and grandparents did the same from the opposite side of the field.
Children enjoyed running races, sack, relay and egg-and-spoon races, along with obstacle races and other traditional favourites.
While the younger children enjoyed taking part and learning the fun games, the older pupils displayed a more competitive spirit and friendly rivalry was very evident in the senior pupils’ races.
Race winners received stickers for their accomplishments and all participants received participation stickers for each race - leaving pupils with shirts filled with stickers and a sense of accomplishment.
The children’s efforts were rewarded with a snack after the event and water – donated by The Old Post Office - was provided throughout the afternoon.
The sports day afternoon was very popular with pupils who enjoyed the physicality of playing outdoors with their friends, the weather, and the excitement of doing something far removed from their regular classes.
Brodick Primary School’s annual sports day is an eagerly-anticipated event in the school’s extra curricular calendar and it also heralds the approach of the upcoming seven-week summer recess.
