Frank and Adam Ronald raised £590 for Children in Need after taking on the challenge.
Former fisherman and now builder Frank Ronald was moved to contribute after following Paddy McGuinness’s 300-mile challenge on a classic chopper bike from Wrexham to Glasgow, which eventually raised £8.8m for the charity.
Frank posted live on the All Things Tarbert Facebook page saying that after listening to the BBC Radio 2 coverage, it had left him feeling “quite emotional.”
Frank had made his own donation to the charity but taking to social media on Friday morning he said in a short video: “Every little extra helps. If I can get £250 donated to Children in Need before tea time, I will jump in the harbour, naked.
“Anyone who knows me knows I hate cold water. I won’t even go in a swimming pool abroad if it’s cold.”
Sure enough, the Children in Need donations came rolling in, well exceeding the £250 target, with people adding screenshots of their donations to Frank’s post.
However, realising that jumping into the harbour in the dark might be foolhardy, Frank promised he would do the leap in the morning.
True to his word, Frank appeared on video before the people of Tarbert, for the second time, on Saturday morning wearing just a pair of Speedos standing by the harbour’s edge.
He said: “I would like to thank everyone for the donations, we managed to raise £570. That will go a long way.
“I have a bit of emotional support here because I am scared, I hate cold water. Here is my brother – thanks Adam.”
They had checked the tide was in and then the brothers - Adam wearing an attractive pair of lacey underwear - ran to the harbour’s edge with, at the last minute, Frank remembering his promise to do it naked, and in no time at all, they jumped over the edge.
They were back out of the water in double-quick time, challenge completed. A further £20 was pledged, taking the final total to £590.
