Brownies benefit from year’s first Nimble Fingers fair

Part of the Girlguiding organisation, Brownies offers girls aged seven to ten opportunities for fun, learning and adventure.

“We had lots of help and support from the Brownies, their mums and the leaders,” said Kate O’May of the Nimble Fingers group.

“The £50 first prize in the raffle was won by Lynsey MacPhail and she very kindly donated it to the Brownies which helped boost the amount raised.

“The Brownies are so delighted as they need to replenish their stationery so plan to use the money for new pens and paint for the unit to use, as well as some fun badges for the girls.”

Some of the crafters met the Brownies last Thursday night to hand over a cheque for the £500 raised.

Brownie leader Laurene Cretton said: “We are are very grateful to everyone who came to the craft fair and for their kind donations towards Brownies. 

“We appreciate greatly the ladies of Nimble Fingers who were so kind to us on the day, but also for considering us for one of the organisations they raised funds for, and thank you to Lynsey McPhail for very generously donating her £50 raffle prize money to the Brownies.  

“We are able to minimise our weekly fees for parents due to the generosity we have received from various organisations in the town.”
