Burst water pipe cascades problems

Around 300 properties in Oban were left without water yesterday after a pipe burst in Lonan Drive.

 

Scottish Water apologised to anyone whose supply was disrupted during the burst and has also said sorry to householders whose gardens were damaged as a result.

 

This is the third time the same 12-inch water main has ruptured.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: 'The burst, which has now been isolated, has caused an interruption to normal supplies for around 300 properties as well as damage to some gardens in the area. We are working as quickly as possible to restore normal supplies and offering support to those householders whose gardens have been damaged as a result. We will work with them to reinstate their gardens to their original condition. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank local residents for their patience and understanding.'

 

The water provider is currently working on a £2.7 million investment project  in the area  including essential upgrades to the water infrastructure and the faulty main.

 

'Once complete, these upgrades will help improve resilience and reduce the risk of bursts on the local network,' added the spokesperson.
