Argyll’s roads could become safer thanks to a free driver development programme being held across the area over four sessions.
Motorists are being encouraged to sign up to one, some or all of the 90-minute sessions which will take place in Lochgilphead, Campbeltown, Oban and Dunoon between February and May.
Run by a ‘road safety hub’ partnership between IAM RoadSmart – formerly the Institute of Advanced Motorists – the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland, the sessions cover all aspects of motoring and are aimed at improving road safety and reducing road traffic collisions.
In the first session, an enthusiastic, friendly and experienced team will help drivers prepare themselves and their vehicles to cope with the extremes of winter weather conditions.
The second session will be on speed awareness, the third on distracted driving and the final session on fitness to drive.
Oban dates: February 25 (Oban Community Fire Station), March 11, March 26, April 22.
Lochgilphead dates: February 15 (Lochgilphead Joint Campus Conference Room), March 8, April 12, May 10.
Campbeltown dates: February 10 (Campbeltown Fire Station), March 10, April 7, May 12.
Spaces for each of the sessions are limited – visit www.iamglasgow.org/argyll-hubs/ to register.
“Safety doesn’t happen by accident,” said an event spokesperson. “Come along and find out what you don’t know.”
