The milestone was crossed as the 2019 class began training at City of Glasgo College's Riverside Campus.
The apprentices will also spend time at sea as the 12- to 18-month courses prepare them for work in the engine room, in retail or on deck.
An SQA qualification is granted upon completion, as the modern apprentices begin work on one of 33 CalMac vessels, servicing the communities in which they are from.
Christine Roberts, CalMac director of human resources, said: 'We are very proud of the fact that we try to recruit our MAs from across our area of operations, creating well-paid professional employment to support our communities.'
CalMac will continue its modern apprenticeship process in March 2020, as
applications open for another batch of aspiring seafarers.
