S6 students from Lochaber High School enjoyed the best of Britain’s capital during the school’s annual London trip.
A total of 74 pupils plus nine staff members made their way to the big city on February 17, where they spent four days based across the road from the famous St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Trafalgar Square, 10 Downing Street, Westminster Abbey and China Town were on the itinerary for the teenagers, who also chose between attractions such as Madame Tussauds, London Dungeons and Emirates Stadium, as well as the education wells of the Science Museum, Natural History Museum and National Portrait Gallery.
Visiting the South Bank meant a chance to ride the London Eye and take a Thames boat tour to Tower Bridge, while an evening at the theatre provided a choice between hit musicals The Lion King, Mamma Mia! and Wicked.
The school said that throughout the trip the students were a credit to themselves, the school and the local community, with staff members repeatedly approached by members of the public wanting to praise the pupils for their behaviour.
Miss Jeffrey, a staff volunteer, said: “We had an incredible trip with a brilliant group of S6 pupils.
“Pupils got to see the sights of London while making some great memories they will never forget.”
Mr Fairbairn, the lead teacher, expressed his gratitude for the support received in making the trip possible.
“Trips such as these are not possible without a considerable amount of support from staff, pupils, parents and the local community,” he said.
“I am particularly grateful to the S6 London Committee for their tireless efforts in planning and fundraising. The generosity of local businesses and individuals, who donated prizes throughout the year, played a key role in making this trip possible.
“With their help, we have enabled our students to broaden their horizons, deepen their friendships and create memories that will last a lifetime.”
