Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is formally passing back the car park to its private owner who has new plans for the area.
However, visitors will still be able to access the Scallastle trail on foot from Craignure under The Scottish Outdoor Access Code SOAC.
The trail, opposite the Isle of Mull Hotel, is 10 minutes on foot from the public car park in Craignure village.
Historically, the car parking for the trail was under a lease agreement but this arrangement has now ended.
Jo Maclean, area visitor services manager for the area, said: "The informal trail is still easily accessible from the ferry terminal and village, with most of the visitors enjoying this trail having the option to explore further and drive to the formal sites with car parking such as Garmony and Glen Aros on the island."
FLS has removed its signs from the car park.
