The funding is part of more than £90,000 of footpath works which are planned to take place in the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands area.
Councillors are asked to note that the Carradale work was part of Argyll and Bute Council’s footway reconstruction programme last year but, due to issues with permissions to carry out the scheme taking longer than anticipated, it was not possible to carry these out in 2021/22.
The funding was therefore transferred to Tarbert/Port Ellen schemes to meet an overspend in these areas.
Work on dropped kerbs in Ardrishaig, and Flora Street in Bowmore, are planned to receive the remainder of the area’s share of the funding.
Discussion of how to spend £500,000 of council funding earmarked for footpath and lighting works was to take place at a meeting of the council’s environment, development and infrastructure committee yesterday (Thursday).
