The Nimble Fingers crafters brought a sprinkle of festive cheer to Campbeltown last Saturday, when they held their annual Christmas market.
There were two new additions at the Campbeltown Town Hall event, with the group welcoming Sarah Adcock, with a range of beautiful quilted crafts, and Sandra Lafferty of Cosy Knits and Knacks, who had a lovely display of knitted goods.
The group holds regular craft fairs, with a different local group or cause chosen to receive the proceeds from its raffle and tombola-type stalls at each event.
As the beneficiary for the Christmas market, Campbeltown Rainbows are set to receive £600 raised through the baking stall, a scratch card raffle and a ‘guess Rudolph’s birthday’ game.
The winner of a one-of-a-kind reversible Christmas stocking, filled with sweets donated by Campbeltown’s Tesco supermarket, was Maura Cairns, who corrected guessed that Rudolph’s birthday is October 1.
And Lorraine MacPhail was delighted to win the £100 prize in the scratch card raffle; she has informed the group that, as well as enjoying a lovely lunch in No 42 Restaurant thanks to her win, she also intends to give a donation to the Mairi Semple Cancer Fund.
“Nimble Fingers would like to thank everyone for making our Christmas market in Campbeltown Town Hall such a success,” said a group spokesperson.
“Thank you Bobby Cairns and Willie Durnan of the town hall for all their help, too, and thanks to the Nimble Fingers Wednesday night girls for all their hard work and to the stallholders for having such a lovely display of quality crafts.
“Thanks, also, to Tesco for their kind donation of sweets for the Christmas stocking.”
The group’s final event for 2024 will be a fundraising day at the town’s Co-op supermarket on December 12, where crafters will be asking people to guess Santa’s birthday to win a lovely grocery hamper. There will also be a raffle and various gifts for sale.
This event is to help with Nimble Fingers running costs so members can continue to support small local groups that do not receive big grants and lottery funding.
