Clachan’s church was decorated with a very large heart – formerly a pantomime prop – and floodlit with pink lighting to set the mood for the couples taking part in the village hall’s Valentine’s Day Mr and Mrs Night.
Host Louise Stanesby researched the old television programme and compiled a range of questions for the three couples – Elizabeth and John Ball, Arthur and Morag Duff and Lori Silvan and Garreth Roberts.
First of all, the men went out while the wives tried to answer the questions as their husbands would, before the situation was reversed.
Then each couple, in turn, was seated either side of a screen, and given a series of questions based on the premise of: “Who would be the most likely to...?” Each held up a pink or blue heart, and if their answers agreed, they got a point.
After some hilarious exchanges, the Balls and Duffs tied as winners, with Lori and Garreth close behind.
“It was a lot of fun and may be repeated next year,” said a village hall spokesperson. “Afterwards, a lovely supper and the chance of a blether were enjoyed and we went out into the dreich night with happy faces.”
