Having qualified for the 15-strong Scottish team in 15th place the 18-year-old from Erracht travelled to Aberystwyth on the weekend of September 10-12 to take part in the International Sheep Dog Society International Trials - the biggest trials in the UK and Ireland.
And, a clear run with over a minute to spare saw the pair finish in eighth place.
'I was a wee bit nervous beforehand but once I got out to the post and set my dog up I relaxed into it,' said Freddy.
'I was very pleased with how Nelly ran, she listened well and gave me everything she had. It was a great experience for my first international.'

Closed to spectators due to Covid, the event was filmed and broadcast live on the internet on the ISDS web site and was viewed world wide.
Freddy was awarded the Donaldson Cup as he was the youngest competing handler in the trials.
