The children nominated to switch on the lights this year were Banavie Primary School pupils Olly Hadfield and Lilia Samler who stood uncomplaining in the rain as they were introduced to the waiting crowd.

As the children pushed the plunger to switch on the Christmas tree, lights on three 'living' trees were simultaneously illuminated which made for a dramatic impact.
Following the switch-on the crowd retired to Kilmallie Community Centre for tea, coffee and homebaking kindly provided by STAR for Harris.

The Kilmallie Christmas Lights committee would like to thank Vicki Horn’s talented young dancers who performed in the hall prior to the switch-on. Thanks are also due also to the Town Centre Fund whose grant made possible the illumination of two further 'living' trees.
These lights were fitted by Robert Skinner of Thistle Access and wired by Michael Fitzsimons who completed the associated work.
Organisers are also grateful to Linda and Duncan Carmichael of Tradewinds who held a very successful fundraising Race Night for the Christmas Lights Group in October.
