Police who raided a Caol mother’s home found £4,500 in cash and cannabis worth almost £16,000.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that officers obtained a search warrant for 32-year-old Keirein Morrison’s property in Mackenzie Court on July 22, 2022 - and she immediately admitted she had the drug in the house.
It was then discovered that apart from a tick list to keep track of her customers, officers also turned up “various bags of cash and herbal material” in the bedroom, kitchen and hallway of the property.
Morrison, now of Glenalmond Street in Glasgow, who had between £15,896 and £23,844 worth of herbal cannabis, weighing almost 1.5kgs, admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class B drug.
Sentence was initially deferred for a background report and Morrison’s bail was continued. She reappeared before Sheriff Gary Aitken for sentencing on Tuesday, represented by solicitor Myhrin Hill.
The lawyer said: "She had no previous convictions at the time of this offence, has no outstanding matters and she has expressed considerable remorse.
"She has removed herself from this sort of behaviour and moved to Glasgow where she runs her own cleaning business to support her son.
"There is no real explanation for her getting involved in this."
Sheriff Aitken ordered the accused to carry out 225 hours of unpaid community work and placed her under two years of social work supervision as an alternative to jail.
He also confiscated the £4,500 but warned her if she did not comply with the order, she would come back before the court - and that a prison sentence was highly likely.
He added: "If you were having financial difficulties, setting up your own business was a better idea than peddling drugs.
"You are exceedingly close to a custodial sentence today, which would have a dramatic effect not only on your life but that of your son.
"I trust that is not lost on you."
