The Whiting Bay Putting competition attracted a healthy field of competitive but friendly putters who took part in the annual competition held during the village’s fun week.
Participants competed in various age categories with the winners receiving collectable and highly coveted Whiting Bay Putting Winner 2024 mugs.
In addition to all of the action on the green the competition also included a well-stocked stall offering an array of home baking and tasty treats for the players.
The winner of the highly competitive gents category was Gus McLeod with a commendable 36 strokes. Lesley Wood and Kate Lucas both had 39 but in the sudden death play off Lesley was the victor with a two versus Kate’s three.
The first teenager was Freddie Lucas who achieved an impressive 41 strokes. In the children’s category, Korey Helmbot was the last child to play but managed to complete the course with just 40 strokes.
Lesley Wood of Whiting Bay and Districts Improvements Association which organised the event said: “Thank you so much to all the bakers for their donations, to the volunteers (or those who were volunteered) who helped on the day, to Johnnie Kelso for maintaining the putting green so well and to everyone who supported the event. We hope to do it all again next year!”
