Called Corrie’s Library Capers, the much-anticipated book is once again vividly illustrated and brought to life by well-known artist Tony van Breugel.
The series of Corrie’s Capers books are based on Alison’s late West Highland Terrier called Corrie and all of the books contain Arran places, themes, characters and buildings which are immediately familiar to children on Arran.
In the latest instalment, Corrie enlists the help of Tabitha, a retired riding school pony, to help her solve a problem, along with her beloved grandparents and the local quilting group. Tabitha is based on a real pony which was well-loved on Arran and which was gentle-natured enough to be used by the local Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).
The fun page-turning plot of the book, along with the brightly-coloured illustrations, will undoubtedly attract a new legion of Corrie fans and is a great addition to the collection of stories, which helps to highlight the importance of books, a library service and the importance of family and friends.
In addition to providing age appropriate and wholesome entertainment for children, the books are part of a non-profit venture with all proceeds from the sale of the books, once printing and production costs are covered, going to Mary’s Meal’s which helps to feed starving children.
To date the venture has seen Alison donate more than £14,000 to the charity, while the books continue to attract a loyal following of young fans who eagerly await each new instalment.
Alison will be hosting a book launch at Lamlash Church Hall on Saturday July 16, from 3pm to 5pm, when children can meet the author and buy a signed copy of the new book. There will also be other activities for children and tea and cake for the adults.
