Argyll and Bute Council has revealed details of how it plans to spend £938,000 of Scottish Government funding to restore play parks across the area by the end of 2025.
A total of £155,000 has been allocated to Argyll and Bute’s play parks since 2021 from the Capital Allocation for Renewal of Playparks Fund. The distribution is based on population aged 0-14 years with an element for rurality.
And a report has revealed a proposal to allocate £33,500 of the latest batch of funding to Oban, Lorn and the Isles as part of a split across Argyll and Bute’s four administrative areas.
The Tobermory play park is rated as a high priority and is the only one with a rating in the administrative area. Atlantis Leisure in Oban is a relatively new park and is thought not to require refurbishment.
Playparks in Mid-Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands could be set for £368,500 of funding – with facilities in Ardrishaig and Tarbert rated as a high priority for upgrading.
The same amount of funding, £368,500, is earmarked for Helensburgh and Lomond, with playparks in Garelochhead and Arrochar rated as a high priority.
Bute and Cowal playparks could get £167,500, with Sandbank’s facility rated as the highest need.
The report will go before the council’s environment, development and infrastructure (EDI) committee at its meeting on Thursday, December 1.
