A Kintyre and the Islands councillor is calling for generators to support Carradale residents during a planned power cut on Sunday September 1.
Councillor Alastair Redman’s call for support follows a recent unscheduled 12-hour power cut that significantly impacted the community, leading to a compensation payout due to the extended duration without electricity.
“Carradale residents have already endured significant inconvenience and disruption due to the recent unexpected power outage,” said Councillor Redman.
“With sufficient advance notice of the upcoming planned outage, there is no excuse not to provide temporary generator power to ensure our community can continue its daily activities without interruption.”
Councillor Redman has reached out to the local power authorities and East Kintyre Community Council to discuss a proactive approach for the September outage.
The proposed plan involves deploying generators to the village to maintain power continuity for the duration of the disruption.
“This is not just about comfort; it’s about ensuring our residents are not left vulnerable and that essential services can continue to operate,” said Councillor Redman.
“We must learn from the past and prepare adequately for planned disruptions. I am committed to ensuring our community receives the support it needs and deserves.”
Councillor Redman is urging the power company to consider the needs of Carradale’s residents seriously and act swiftly to mitigate the impact of the planned outage.
