'With the rising numbers of Covid cases, it is our priority to keep everyone as safe as possible,' said a spokesperson for the club. 'With this in mind, and the amount of physical work involved in collecting, sorting and delivering the mail, this wasn't possible.
'However, all being well, we look forward to bringing the community this service again next year as it is our main fundraising event.
'We are ever mindful that there are still people who need our help and support, so we have tried to think of other ways to fundraise.
'You can still help us and support the community, as earlier this year the Rotary Club of Campbeltown collated stories and art work from pupils in the area.
'From these, the Kintyre Pupils Stories booklet was published and is also our fundraiser for children's charities in the community.
'You can purchase a copy for £10 from the Keeping it Local store in Main Street, Campbeltown.
'Although we cannot do the whole of Sale of the Century as a fundraiser, we are planning to do the bric-a-brac stalls in March and will be looking for donations in 2022.
'Thank you and we wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.'
CAPTION (IF NEEDED):
The amount of physical work involved in collecting, sorting and delivering the Christmas Post was another factor which led to its cancellation. NO_c49rotarypost01
