Artists’ network Cowal Open Studios (COS) has released its new 2024 brochure and map for the Cowal open studios weekend from September 20-23.
Artists and makers across Cowal are already making preparations for the four-day event giving visitors the opportunity to meet with local artists, tour their studios, ask questions and gain insight into how they work and create.
Jenny Phillips of COS explained: “This year we have possibly the widest ever range of different artist and makers taking part.
“Some have got together in shared venues, giving visitors a great opportunity of seeing many more artists when they plan their route.
“Some of the venues are stunning and will give visitors a unique chance to see artists’ works in a variety of different settings.
“One of these venues is Kilfinnan Community Forest Centre situated near Tighnabruaich on the edge of the forest. Painters Marie Briggs and Monya Wren will be present to exhibit their work.
“Another interesting venue is the Holy Trinity Church near the beautiful Bishops Glen.
“There will be no less than four artists showing their work here with painters Paddy Allen and Sarah Railton, graphic designer Katie Edge-Mellor and textile artist Irene Florence in attendance.
“Sarah Woods’ stunning glasswork will be showcased at Dunoon library and Cowal Camera Club will be opening its doors in the historic Castle Cottages to display the brilliant photographic work of its members.
“In addition, there are lots of other members sharing studios this year. These include ceramic artist Micheala Goan and husband Chris, a published poet, displaying alongside James Coogan in Innellan.
“Painters Seobhan Owen and Jill Bryson will be opening up to the public in Kilmun and printmaker Karen Komurcu, together with photographer Anne-Marie Pietersz-Powell, will be on show in Sandbank.
“It promises to be another fantastic showcase for artistic talent across Cowal and visitors can find out more and plan their route by picking up the leaflet,” added Jenny.
Details about all of these artists and many more can be found at www.cowalopenstudios.co.uk with brochures/maps available to pick up at lots of places including Dunoon Burgh Hall, Bookpoint and Dunoon Library.
