This year’s Cowal Open Studios (COS) weekend proved to be a great success according to organisers with visitors from across Scotland and the UK engaging with artists on the Cowal peninsula.
Blue skies provided the backdrop for much of the four-day event with art lovers exploring various routes showcasing a wide range of artists and makers across Cowal.
“It was a fantastic weekend,” said Jenny Phillips of COS “with visitors from Glasgow, Falkirk, Ayrshire, Bute, Linlithgow and across the water in Gourock as well as many local people.
“It was definitely one of the best attended COS weekends yet with feedback from our members reflecting that.
“A big thank you to all the artists who opened up their studios and everyone who engaged with the event.
Sandbank-based printmaker Karen Komurcu said: “It was a very well attended few days.
“We even had visitors from St Albans in the south of England.
Everyone loved the variety of artists taking part and were interested in chatting to us about our subjects and techniques.
“I can’t wait until the 2025 weekend comes around!” she added.
Jeweller Natalie Sedgewick, who runs Lapwing Designs, said: “It was wonderful to see so many regular customers who visit year after year to see what’s new.”
New member Tracey Exton, an artist based in Blairmore, was similarly enthused: “It was a busy weekend and I was flooded with compliments for both my paintings and installation piece. I met some lovely people.
“We are so lucky in Cowal to have so many talented artists and makers.”
