Craignish Village Hall had 35 stalls in its biggest Christmas market ever on Friday and Saturday.
Organised by hall manager Sarah Whittle, supported by a band of volunteers, the event followed hot on the heels of the Christ Church Lochgilphead Winter Bazaar the previous weekend.
Craignish Christmas Market is always well attended not only by members of the local community in Ardfern, but by people from Lochgilphead and Oban.
It took place during the evening of Friday November 8 and during the day on Saturday November 9 in order not to clash with Oban Winter Festival, which runs from November 15 – 24.
Sarah said: “This was the biggest one we have ever done. We normally only ever have it in the hall upstairs. It was the first time we have opened the downstairs hall as well, which was fantastic to give people more choice.
“We had unprecedented demand for stalls which is why we opened downstairs.
“People commented on the quality of what was on offer. There was a really good mix, we had some really talented makers.”
There was a fine selection of art, crafts, glasswork, jewellery, basket weaving, woodcraft, weaving and much more.
Craignish Primary School also had a stall selling some beautifully painted decorations and raffle tickets for a hamper.
Catchacarrot Vegan Cafe provided the food, which proved extremely popular, to the point they sold out of food towards the end of Saturday.
One of the stallholders was Louise MacBrayne of Dryad Argyll, which has an ethical brand of vegan candles with scents inspired by the wild forests of Argyll.
Dryad Argyll is based at Kilmelford. Originally based in Ardrishaig, the venture proved so successful they moved to Kilmelford to set up in larger premises.
Louise said the Craignish market was busy on both Friday and Saturday, and she believed the pop-up café was a big draw.
She said: “It has been a wonderful community event, this has been the biggest one yet. These events are so important in rural areas like this to bring the community together. It is lovely to see everybody in the community coming out to support it. This market in particular has a lovely atmosphere.”
The next event at Craignish Village Hall will be a Sunday session acoustic set with local artists on November 24 followed by a visit from the Mad Ferret Band on December 6.
