Crerar Hotels CEO Chris Wayne-Wills has been announced as Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland’s new vice-chairperson.
Former vice-chairperson Alan Halliday, a trustee of more than 23 years and a McDonald’s Franchisee, takes over as chairperson.
The leadership changes come at a pivotal moment as the HIT Scotland charity continues its mission to uplift the Scottish hospitality industry 30 years on from its inception.
Mr Halliday, with his extensive business experience from Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd, Brakes, and currently as a McDonald’s Franchisee, brings a wealth of business acumen and deep strategic insight to his new role where he will continue to drive impact.
Mr Wayne-Wills has more than 25 years of leadership experience and a passion for developing future leaders.
Loch Fyne Hotel and Spa, Inveraray; The Glencoe Inn; Island View Hotel, Glencoe; Oban Bay Hotel; and Isle of Mull Hotel and Spa are part of the Crerar Hotels’ collection of ten four- and five-star hotels and inns, of which Mr Wayne-Wills is CEO.
A former recipient of the HIT Scotland Leadership Scholarship and trustee since 2020, he says he is committed to nurturing the next generation of hospitality leaders.
He said: “I look forward to working closely with Alan and the rest of the team to advance our mission and support up-and-coming hospitality talent.”
Since 1994, HIT Scotland has been a beacon of support for the hospitality sector, funding exceptional scholarship experiences to upskill and inspire hospitality talent.
In 2024, it reached a significant milestone, awarding its 7,000th scholarship, all made possible by industry support and donations.
HIT Scotland hosts around 24 annual industry events, attracting over 3,000 attendees from 250 companies, and raising more than £150,000 through auctions alone.
These events, from black-tie dinners to sports matches, provide invaluable fundraising and networking opportunities for industry professionals.
