Plans to convert a barn and farmhouse near Dalmally into self-catering accommodation have been approved – despite 44 objections and a petition in opposition.
The planning application by Rockhill Farm Ltd sought to build five self-catering accommodation units, along with a floating jetty.
An application for the same site, consisting of six accommodation units and wedding and function facilities, was submitted in 2021 but later withdrawn.
The development was considered by Argyll and Bute Council’s planning, protective services and licensing committee at its meeting on Wednesday, August 21.
The minutes record: "A total of 44 objections and six expressions of support have been received in respect of this application. There have been no objections received from statutory consultees.
"The main concerns raised by objectors relate to biodiversity, water and drainage, noise and light emanating from the site and construction vehicles entering the site.
"It is the opinion of Planning Officers that a suite of safeguarding conditions can address these concerns raised. It is not considered that the objections raise any complex or technical issues that have not been addressed in the report of handling and it is not considered that a discretionary hearing would add value to the planning process.
"The proposed development is considered to be consistent with the provisions of both the adopted National and Local Policy and it was recommended that planning permission be granted."
