As ever, the competition proved popular, with many players from neighbouring Argyll clubs taking part on Saturday July 22. Despite the recent wet weather, the course was in perfect condition which led to some impressive scoring.
The field was fortunate to be playing in much better conditions than those experienced at the same time at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club for The British Open.
The Dalmally crowd was delighted to see Martin O’Keeffe making a great return to form to take the Open Handicap trophy.
Visiting golfers from Glencruitten Golf Club performed strongly, completing a clean sweep of the scratch competition.
Glencruitten's Kevin McKie (66); Phillip Murphy (68) and James Muir (69) took the top three placings with impressive scores.
Meanwhile, in the Gents Handicap Open, Dalmally's O'Keefe achieved a winning score of 61, with Ian Mowat (62) and Scott Bratton (62 on countback) from Glencruitten finishing second and third.
Paul Watson from Taynuilt Golf Club secured the longest drive, while Adrian Smith from Dalmahoy Golf Club was nearest the pin.
Other recent competitions at Dalmally have included a fun match against Seil Golf Club on Saturday July 15, with the visitors convincing winners in the four ball better ball match play.
The annual match against Oban Rotary Club was held on Tuesday July 4, with this match play unusually ending in a tie.
A mixed Texas Scramble, followed by a barbecue, was hosted by the club on Sunday July 9. This proved popular with the club hoping this will become an annual fixture.
Winners in the scramble were Dalmally veterans Terry Macnair and June Sutherland who, along with Adrian Nation, took first prize.
Terry commented: "Adrian drove, I chipped onto the greens and June putted – a winning combination."
Coming up soon at Dalmally is the Open Mixed Greensome event on Saturday September 16. Entries can be submitted on the Scottish Golf App, by emailing dalmallygolfcompetitions@gmail.com or by calling 07836 223756.
