More than 30 people turned out to support the inaugural meeting of a campaign group calling for a kidney dialysis unit at Lorn and Islands Hospital.
Group founder and kidney transplant patient Dave Alsop from Seil said the numbers of those attending showed strong support, sending out a message to the NHS that a dialysis unit is much needed and wanted in Oban.
Mr Alsop was elected in as chairperson and a number of people stepped forward to join a committee, there is still space for a secretary and treasurer.
The meeting also adopted a constitution to give it a voice and the new committee will be meeting soon to push the campaign forward, one idea could be to set up a petition.
Mr Alsop said he was also pleased to get the support of Oban councillor Andrew Vennard who was at the meeting at The Rockfield Centre last Wednesday.
"The more we can spread the word and the more people we can get behind our campaign, the better it will be for those needing dialysis treatment now and in the future," he said.
People needing dialysis in hospital are currently having to travel all the way to the Belford Hospital in Fort William, three times a week, 52 weeks of the year.
Mr Alsop has had two meetings with the NHS so far and has been told a review is being carried out.
