The pair, who were both born in 1937 in Glasgow's Clydebank and Parkhall areas, were at school together and have now lived in the Appin area for 20 years.
Before moving here, Mr MacDougall was a scout leader for many years with the 9th Clydebank and his wife was a cub leader.
Mr MacDougall came from a family who clocked up around 250 years with John Brown’s shipyard where he was a draughtsman working on some of the great liners including Kungsholm and the QE11 before moving to ship production at Govan then as a consultant around the world taking in India, China, America, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, while Mrs MacDougall managed the family home raising five children.
They have several grandchildren with the eldest due to be married this summer.
'Unfortunately they haven’t managed to see any of the family since autumn last year but can’t wait to get them together for a Clan Gathering to celebrate,' said son Colin MacDougall sending them best wishes.
