Mrs Enid Colville of Campbeltown Bridge Club has donated a pair of trophies to be played for in a club competition every April.
The trophies are in memory of her mother Mrs Agnes C C Mitchell, a founder member of the club when it started in the 1950s.
Mrs Colville still enjoys a few hands of bridge, a cup of tea and cake on afternoon visits by club members.
Clachan
Louise Stanesby took early retirement after many years working locally as a nurse for the NHS.
She decided to celebrate by having a holiday visiting friends and family in Europe and to travel in the greenest way possible - by bus and train.
Clachan Rural members asked Louise to take lots of photographs and give them a talk when she got back, which she kindly agreed to.
Her travels took her to London first, then to Strasbourg to stay with her family on their barge for two weeks. After various hiccups, they sailed along canals to Nancy, stopping to visit interesting places on the way.
Louise then travelled to Switzerland to visit her son and from there returned home via Milan.
Louise was thanked for taking the Rural with her on this exciting journey before judging the competitions as follows:
Slice of Christmas Cake: 1 Elizabeth Ball; 2 Jane Griffiths; 3 Pauline Simson. A holiday souvenir: 1 Zoe Weir; 2 Glynis Lewin; 3 Jill Francis.
Tea was enjoyed and the raffle was drawn.
Islay
Plans for a tree nursery on Islay have been given the go-ahead by council chiefs.
The partly retrospective application by Islay Development Initiative related to a site at Cornabus Forest, west of Kilnaughton Bay.
The nursery is to be operated as a charity trust with volunteers meeting the needs and aims of the community forest by growing and developing native and indigenous trees for reforestation and rewilding.
A static caravan will be sited to the back of the site and be clad in timber larch. This will operate as a welfare unit/offices with a compost toilet.
The project is initially for a five-year period, however, if successful they may extend this. The site will be served by a new access road, with the existing unauthorised access closed off.

Kintyre and the Islands councillor Alastair Redman was delighted recently to see the bus stop sign finally getting put on the Port Wemyss bus shelter on Islay.
'Thanks to our hardworking front-line workers for getting the job done,' he said.
