Arrocher

 

A charity in Arrochar has been awarded £84,000 to provide and install

 

a pontoon and visitor moorings on Loch Long, for the use and enjoyment of residents and visitors.

 

Dawn Gourlay, Secretary of the Loch Long Jetty Association said: 'Many

 

private yachts and chartered vessels sail up Loch Long every year, but with no pontoon or visitor moorings they are currently unable to safely moor and come ashore, to visit the village and explore the surrounding area. By providing these facilities it will also allow us to hold community-led initiatives such as annual triathlon and raft race, which will help to enhance

 

community spirit and benefit small businesses in the village.'

 

In addition to the money from the Weston Anniversary Fund, financial backing has also come from the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and the Hannah Stirling Loch Lomond Charitable Trust.

 

'We are extremely excited about what the future holds for our

 

community in Arrochar. It is anticipated that construction work on the pontoon will commence in the Spring of 2019,' added Ms Gourlay.

 

Benderloch

 

The Post Office is restoring services to Benderloch with a new hosted outreach service at the Victory Hall on Mondays from 2-4pm.  Customers will be able to collect benefits in cash using everyday banking services or Post Office Card Account. The Ledaig branch closed temporarily in July 2015. Angela Smith, Post Office  area network manager said: 'We are confident that this new hosted outreach service at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.'

 

Benderloch and North Connel Drama Club proudly present Cinderella as this year's pantomime offering at the Corran Halls from December 6-8 with a special matinee performance on Saturday December 8.

 

Dalmally

 

Dalmally Primary School parent council is organising a bonfire night celebration at Dalmally Community Centre on Saturday, November 3 at 6pm to raise funds for the school. Hot food, hot drinks  and face painting will be available. Suggested donation is £3.

 

Inveraray

 

Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) had its 12th Annual

 

General Meeting at the Inveraray Inn in September. A board of management  was appointed. Among tenant members are Ian McIntyre from Oban, Lorn and the Isles. Members were advised the Argyll and Bute Council nominees were Councillors Roddy McCuish, Iain Shonny Paterson and Donnie MacMillan.

 

Loch Awe

 

Glenorchy and Innishail Community Council is at 7pm on Wednesday November  7 at Lochawe Village Hall.

 

Luing

 

The Atlantic Centre starts its winter opening hours from Monday November 5 until March 31. During that time the centre will only be open on Fridays from 11am to 4pm, Saturdays from 11am until late, Sunday from noon to 4pm, and Mondays from 11am to 4pm, with the lunch club at 12.30pm. Special events will be posted on the centre's noticeboard and online at atlanticislandscentre.com

 

Luing Horticultural Society has its annual general meeting on Tuesday November 6 at 6pm in Cullipool Hall, everyone is welcome.

 

Seil

 

Seil Community hall will be hosting the island's Christmas Craft Fair this year on Sunday December 2 from 11am.

 

Tuesday nights are for country dancing at Seil Hall from 7.45pm. New members are welcome.

 

Taynuilt

 

Taynuilt Carpet Bowling Club has started its new season at the village hall on a Tuesday at 7.30pm. Call Douglas MacCallum on 01866 822465. Always looking for new members.

 

Tobermory
