On a day that felt a lot colder than of late and with a stiff wind for much of the round, nine ladies took to the course at Dunaverty Golf Cub last Saturday for their first competition of 2025.
The ladies took part in the rescheduled January medal competition, which had been postponed from the previous Saturday as the course had been closed due to a heavy frost.
In the first group of the day, Lindsay Garrett played a steady round and carded a nett 69 (gross 82) to set the pace for the remainder of the field.
Her lead was short-lived, however, with Mary McKinnon in the next group bettering Lindsay’s score with a nett 67 (gross 89) to take over the top place.
Despite valiant efforts by the remainder of the players, none was able to better Mary’s score and she took first place.
“Well done to all who participated on a day that challenging with the windy conditions,” said a club spokesperson.
Result: 1 Mary McKinnon 89-22=67, 2 Elizabeth Marrison 84-15=69 (bih), 3 Lindsay Garrett 82-13=69. Lowest gross: Lindsay Garrett 82.
