Entries are now open for the 21st anniversary MacQueen Bros Mid Argyll Sprint Triathlon on Sunday September 28.
Based at MAC Pool in Lochgilphead, the event involves a 500-metre swim, a 1.9km open road cycle and a 6.5km run on the Crinan Canal towpath.
There is also the option to enter the Aquathon for those who do not want to include the cycle, which involves a 500-metre swim and 2.5km run along the tow path.

Mid Argyll Triathlon and Cycle Club, which runs the event, president Colin MacFarlane said: “We’d love to see more local teams entering so we’re offering an additional £10 off the team entry price with the code MATA2025. Each team needs three people, one for each discipline.”
The club has provided some training tips to build up tp the triathlon for those thinking of entering:
Mid Argyll Community Pool – lane swimming at lunchtime and lanes available in other sessions too. Look at for adult learn to swim and swimming technique sessions. To follow a swim training plan, join Swim fit at 8am Saturday or 10am Sunday.
Crinan Parkrun – 5km every Saturday at 9.30am starting at the Crinan basin. Walk, jog, run, volunteer – get involved and build up your fitness. It’s welcoming and non-competitive.
Ladies Breeze cycling group – Guided rides to build up your confidence on road.
Mid Argyll Sports Centre – spin cycle classes, strength and conditioning and fitness training.
Join the Mid Argyll Triathlon and Cycle Club – friendly welcome, various training options (duathlon, cycle time trial, running, swim training).
