Organisers are planning a scaled-back Lochgilphead Armed Forces Day to be held on June 12 - a date with particular meaning for the town.
Betty Rhodick of the organising committee explained: 'The planned Armed Forces Day event for Saturday June 12 will not go ahead in its usual form due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, but we would like to have a small commemoration ceremony as this is the 100th anniversary, to the day, of Lochgilphead war memorial being dedicated.'
The intention is to replicate the Armistice Day ceremony at the war memorial.
Betty added: 'The timings will be exactly as on Armistice Day, with a short ceremony and the laying of a few wreaths.
'We will have a member of the clergy, a piper and a bugler, and we will be following all government guidelines regarding social distancing and other precautions.
'Anyone wishing to take part in this ceremony is asked to follow all government guidelines.
'Anyone wishing to lay a wreath please contact me by emailing e.rhodick@yahoo.com or phoning 01546 602205.'
