People of all ages celebrated World Book Day in style at Campbeltown Library.
Library supervisor Tracey Muscroft and library assistant Linzi Robertson joined youngsters in dressing up as literary characters for the Bookbug session that coincided with the global celebration, held annually on the first Thursday of March.
A Scottish Book Trust initiative, Bookbug is designed to demonstrate the benefits of sharing stories, songs and rhymes with babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, and what better way of spreading the joy of reading than by marking World Book Day.
The library hosts Bookbug sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 10.15am, and often ties it in with other events, linking the March 20 session with ‘The Hungry Caterpillar Day’, held in honour of Eric Carle’s beloved picture book character.
Far from just offering a book-lending service, the library hosts lots of other regular events, including baby and toddler time every Friday morning from 10am to 12.30pm, and ‘activity tables’, from crafting and creating to friendly competitions, every Saturday morning.
It also hosts many unique talks, presentations and events, and is currently hosting an exhibition of photographs taken by the talented members of Campbeltown Camera Club.
Don’t miss your chance to check out the lovely shots, which will be on display until March 26.
Members and non-members are welcome to pop into the library to find out more about all the wonders it has to offer.
