Plans to convert a Dalmally barn and farmhouse into self-catering accommodation have been recommended for approval – despite 44 objections and a petition in opposition.
A bid for planning permission by Rockhill Farm Ltd was due to be considered by Argyll and Bute Council’s planning, protective services and licensing committee on Wednesday August 21.
The plan consists of a total of five self-catering accommodation units, along with the installation of a floating jetty and various works to the site. Six expressions of support were received.
An application for the same site, consisting of six accommodation units and wedding and function facilities was submitted in 2021 but later withdrawn.
According to a planning report, the proposed small scale tourism development is considered to be consistent with the provisions of the adopted National Planning Framework 4 and Local Development Plan 2 with the issues raised by third parties not considered to raise material considerations of sufficient significance to withhold planning permission.
And today Thursday August 22, final approval for the closure of a mothballed primary school in Argyll could be given by the council’s community services committee.
Kilchrenan Primary has been mothballed since March 2022, with no pupils on its roll. Under Argyll and Bute Council’s plans, Taynuilt Primary School will have its catchment area extended to take in the Kilchrenan catchment area. Education provision at the school will officially end on Friday, November 29 if councillors agree.
